So inspired by London

I am writing this blog two days after I arrived from a 4 day trip to London to attend a yoga workshop. Sometimes I struggle keeping it up every day to write on my book, to create recipes and to create content for my website. I love to do all of this work, but there are days that I feel I need something else... That was how I felt when I left to London.

The vibe of the city combined with the massive amount of greens in the parks in Central London, gave me an immediate boost. I couldn't stop taking pictures of all the green around me. Also the 3 days filled with yoga, learning and connecting to like-minded people, brought me back to my true self and got me going again.

I visited the coolest healthy food cafes, did some grocery shopping to bring back home, bought a nice card for a dear friend, some gifts for the family and I came back energised and inspired!

Now and then it is so important to take a breath, overlook what you are doing in your daily life, acknowledging your true feelings and practicing self-love to incorporate into your life what you miss.

Traveling to Switzerland

One of the most important foods for my soul is TRAVELING!!

I’m on the plane right now traveling to Geneva to have a long desired ski holiday with family and friends.

One of the challenges of traveling is always to find nourishing healthy snacks. For these trip my family left four days before me so I had plenty of time to prepare all the snacks I was craving... I suggest you always take with you some healthy options as we don’t want to fill ourselves up with unhealthy processed plane food.

For this trip I took some homemade kale chips, a box of cherry tomatoes, a cashew cacao bar, spirulina elixir (that I drunk before the security control:), and a box with activated nuts and some dates.

energise yourself

as soon as you start your travel

Always make sure you drink enough water during the flight to keep hydrating yourself as the air on the plane is so dry. Pack your favorite lip balm and an inspiring notebook as well! Xxx

My love for matcha
IMG_0666.JPG

I fell in love with this powder during a tea ceremony I attended in Japan, the origin of the Matcha tea powder. The preparation of matcha is the focus of Japanese tea ceremonies, and it has long been associated with Zen. I believe that if preparing and sipping matcha becomes a way for you to slow down, and be in the moment, its benefits will extend far beyond the antioxidants it provides, because meditation, in any form, has a myriad of rewards.

Matcha is rich in anti-oxidants and boosts metabolism. Just be careful as it contains caffeine so don't drink it in the afternoon or before bedtime. I believe keeping 6 hours before bedtime in mind, is a good guideline

A couple of times a week, in the mornings,  I have my almond cappuccino or a regular coffee that I pimp with turmeric, sweetener and some plant based milk. Other days I choose tea or matcha.

I’m very intentional and aware of giving my body what it needs and I go through some phases without coffee and replace it with Matcha. Usually it are these days that I feel a bit stressed, if I need more nourishment or when I did a good yoga practice.

The coconut oil makes this latte thick and creamy without using dairy or heavy cream. Not only does the fat emulsify and make this latte luxurious, but it also tastes delicious and slightly sweet from the coconut oil.

THE RECIPE:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of hot water

1/2 cup of almond milk

1-2 teaspoons matcha powder

1 small tablespoon coconut oil

1 tablespoon maple syrup

pinch of vanilla

Directions:

Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender for 45 seconds until it becomes frothy.

Anyone else? If you’re feeling worn out, stressed, or sick, try this Matcha Tea Latte instead of your morning cup of coffee and see how you feel. Yes, matcha still has caffeine, but the effects are much different.
